The Strategic Funding Workshop

The Strategic Funding Workshop helps nonprofit organizations achieve their fundraising goals by providing concise research about donors in their community; their demographics, their attitudes, their opinions, and their giving and support patterns.  Participation in The Strategic Funding Workshop will help you understand where and why donors in your community give, identify and develop effective programs to reach potential donors, and learn and network with your nonprofit peers.

The Strategic Funding Workshop is a day-long educational program that utilizes data and information from a custom market research survey conducted among donors in your community.   Survey results are presented along with implications, ideas, and recommendations on what the information means to nonprofits and how to utilize it to reach potential donors and supporters.  Case studies, trend analysis, how-to programs, and breakout sessions are utilized to provide opportunities for participants to learn and to network.

 The Strategic Funding Workshop Sessions

  • Pre-Workshop Networking Coffee

  • Community Research Overview - Methodology, Sample, Questionnaire

We begin the Workshop with a concise overview of the donor research study conducted in your community.  Presented are the research methodology, how the research sample was structured and acquired, and a discussion of the questions we asked donors and why.

  • The Demographics of Donors in Your Community

This is an analysis and segmentation of the demographic composition of your community’s donor population and a comparison of high impact segments to geographic and demographic data from the U. S. Census.  Strategies are presented and discussed on how to efficiently utilize donor research and U. S. Census data to target prospective donor segments.

  • Community Giving and Support Trends

A discussion of how your donors have been affected by the changes in the local and national economy.  This session focuses on donor’s perspectives of how the outlook in your community will affect their giving and support.

  • Fundraising and Fundraisers – Donor’s Attitudes

Several case studies are examined that present the good and the bad of fundraisers.  Donor research is then applied so that each Workshop participant can evaluate the effectiveness of their individual fundraising efforts.

  • Relationship Building – Donor’s Expectations

Donors in your community have certain expectations for the return on their charitable investment and the relationship with the organizations they support.  This session identifies strategies for managing those relationships to achieve the maximum benefit for both your organization and the donor.

  • Membership and Loyalty Programs

Memberships and other loyalty programs are the cornerstones of developing consistent financial support for many nonprofits.  Research results are analyzed relative to a variety of membership program components.

  • Marketing and Media

Effective marketing and media strategies for reaching prospective donors and supporters are presented.  Each strategy is analyzed within the context of the donor research for your community.
